Design review for schools, hospitals, and civic buildings.

An architect with graduate training in developmental disabilities, reviewing your project against sensory criteria — while the drawings can still change.

Working alongside your architect of record, not in place of them.

What we do

  • Neuroinclusive design review

You find out where a design will overwhelm people — while drawings can still change.

  • Design partnership

A sensory point of view stays in the room from schematic design to occupancy.

  • Sensory programming & stakeholder engagement

Requirements are defined by the people who will use the building, before design begins.

We work with school districts, healthcare systems, municipalities, and the architects who serve them.

A note from Ani

“I spent years designing hospitals before my son's autism diagnosis showed me how little architecture asks about the way a space is experienced. So I went back to school to study developmental disabilities and learn what my training had left out. This studio is where those two educations meet.”

We work alongside your architect — not instead of them.

Uplift is engaged by the owner or by the design firm, and consults alongside the architect of record from schematic design through construction administration. We don't take over the project; we make sure sensory criteria are in the room while decisions are still open.
